I make a game of it by having my daughter close her eyes and try to guess what I put in her mouth. I'll start with foods I know she likes, then move on to new foods. She learns that she actually likes foods that she would have refused to try otherwise.

Make smoothies with mixed veggies and fruits. They will like and get used to the taste. Parents can be creative.

Remind them that healthy doesn't mean it taste like dirt, it just means it taste great without the guilt or worry. Start with fruits and veggies you know they like then switch the pasta, breads and cereals for whole grains instead and dont let them know until they have eaten and loved it. Then start switching your sodas for water, lemonades, tea, propel flavor waters, ect. Grill, broil and crock pot prepare your meats and veggies. Use peanut and olive oils. Popcorn is great snack minus too much butter and salt. I love The Cliff, Mojo and Kind bars. Even my 8yr old son loves those at any time.

Keep trying to get your kids to try different foods that are good for them. Eventually, they will eat and enjoy them!

My husband can be a bit of a picky eater, so when my kids were little we'd fix things together to "trick" him. For example, one time we made spaghetti squash with spaghetti sauce already on it. They got so into fooling dad that they never balked. Plus I let them help me cook which also helped. It was just a bonus that my husband had to play a long for the sake of the kids, lol.

Include the unknown or disliked food when you invite their friend over for lunch or share dinner with the family.
